Hint Hunt – Will you get out in time?

Are you looking for some fun in London? Love playing games? Then this real-life escape game might just be for you!

In January, G and I went to London, and as G had her birthday just before we left, I decided to organize some activity for her as a present. The question was: what? She had been to London several times before, so she had already seen the most famous attractions, and just getting tickets for the London Eye seemed… – well too simple.

So, I started looking into less known activities in and around London and went to tripadvisor for some ideas. There, the number one attraction immediately caught my eye: HINT HUNT
Though I had no idea what it was, it already sounded fun! I visited their website, which doesn’t give away much, just that it’s an escape game and that it’s great for small groups. As G and I are suckers for games, I knew this was the perfect gift for her (well I guess also kind of for me ;)
So I booked a room right away (John Monroe’s Office, as this is recommended for beginners) and probably was more excited about it than G :D

On the day of our booking, we first had a bit of trouble to find the location (we walked on the wrong side of the street -.-), but if you walk on the right side of Eversholt Str. (coming from Euston station) you can’t miss it! We were greeted by our “game master” and given some instructions by him about how the game works and what the rules are (like; “don’t tear off the tapestry” or “don’t take furniture apart” – which really made me wonder what people have done in those rooms before). So for those who don’t know what an escape game is, here’s how it works:
Basically you will be in a room with a locked door and the goal is to open this door within an hour and get out. To make the whole thing more realistic, there’s a story as to why you are there, who’s room it is and why you need to escape. Sounds pretty simple, right? Wrong! It’s actually an extremely complex system of finding and combining clues. At the beginning those clues are fairly easy to find put as you continue it gets harder and harder.; which makes it all the more fun!!
Seriousely – it was one of the best ideas i ever had (and as I have many great ideas that sure says something ;D)
The whole experience at HintHunt was great! The game master was so friendly (even though we were late), and it was so much fun playing detective, finding the clues (or trying to) and then working together to understand them.

So if you’re in London and looking for something fun, and challenging, to do: visit HintHunt! All you’ll need is some friends to share the experience with.
